What is cabinet refacing?

Refacing gives your kitchen a new look while keeping the cabinet boxes you already have. Dan swaps out the doors, the gables (the finished panels on the ends) and the trim, so it looks like a new kitchen without tearing everything out. It’s a good option when your cabinets are solid and the layout still works for you.

What does refacing include?

  • New doors in painted MDF or solid wood, finished in the shop
  • New gables and trim to match
  • Hardware upgrades, like soft-close hinges and slides from Blum and Hettich

Dan doesn’t repaint or refinish old doors. Refacing means new ones.

Should I reface or get a new kitchen?

If the layout isn’t working, the boxes are damaged or you need more storage, a custom kitchen is the better way to go. Dan can look at what you have when he comes out and talk through both options with you.

It mostly comes down to how many doors and panels you’re replacing and the style and finish you choose. Dan quotes it after he’s seen your kitchen.

Yes. New hardware is part of refacing, including soft-close hinges and slides from Blum and Hettich.

We’re based in Grey County, and most of our work is within about an hour and a half of the shop. For bigger jobs Dan will travel farther. We’ve built kitchens in London, Strathroy and Coldstream, a new build in Walkerton and a boathouse kitchen on Lake Joseph in Muskoka.
